Premium Flooring's red list free Mohawk Carpets have been used in the SEEDclassroom project to create sustainable classrooms. SEEDclassrooms are the classrooms of the future.
SEED stands for Sustainable Education Every Day, and SEEDclassrooms are modular, hands-on, sustainable learning spaces built to Living Building Challenge standards. Materials selected for SEEDclassrooms are free of 'red listed' toxic materials such as PVC, mercury, formaldehyde and chlorofluorocarbons. Put together by the Living Future Institute, the comprehensive red list captures the worst known chemicals for human health and the environment. Product transparency is key for specifiers, and that's where Declare Labelscome in.
All Mohawk Group commercial carpets carry the Declare Label for easy identification of its make up. This made their Lees Sequences Collection II carpeting an excellent choice for the SEEDclassroom project. Declare Labels list a product's ingredients and rates it as Red List Free or not.
The Mohawk Group have the largest offering of Declare Red List Free carpets in the flooring industry, including their square and plank modular range, as well as their carpet adhesives, and their tufted, woven, impervious and cushion backed broadlooms.
"At Premium Flooring we believe just as you get an ingredients list on your food products, so too should consumers know what's in their building materials. Declare Labels on our Mohawk carpets allow us to communicate this easily," says Rachel Alexander of Premium Flooring.
